PARENT COMMUNICATION

Parental involvement is a key factor for students and teachers in the classroom. Having good communication allows parents to feel involved in their students classroom and learning. In order to do this, I use newsletters, meet the teacher letters, and activities that are sent home for parents/students. These information packets contain important information and useful guides such as deadlines, field trips, tips, and lessons.

ZIP KITS

A ZipKit is an assembled unit of work used to engage the students at home in place of homework to encourage family involvement. The student and family are encouraged to complete the ZipKits together in order to create a love for learning and a connection between home and school.

This ZipKit is called Connecting Caterpillars and it is used as an alternate to math homework. This kit focuses on improving sequencing of numbers and counting in order. Included in the Zipkit is a checklist, instructions, and game pieces. The student will take the ZipKit home and, with their families, follow and complete the checklist. The student will then return it to school.
